The Regina Planning Commission has hastily scheduled a public meeting on its plans for new urban sprawl in south Regina. Members of the public will be able to comment on the plan on Tuesday, Sept. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall. See the article "90,000 Square Metres of Big Box Planned" below for a link to the planning document.  Meanwhile, on the following day the Parks and Community Services committee will consider a proposal to substantially cut funding to the Cathedral Area Community Association, which represents one of the neighbourhoods on the doorstep of the proposed new big box area. Also in city news, the CCFR will hold a general membership meeting to consider candidate endorsements for City Hall and the School Board, on Monday, Sept. 11, 7:30 p.m. at the SGEU hall, 1440 Broadway Ave.

CCFR Media Scrum tonight
Written by Guest on 2006-09-12 11:09:20
As a forerunner to tonight's public meeting on the SW development the Coalition for a Citizen Friendly Regina (CCFR) will hold a media scrum at City Hall starting at 5:30 pm. The intention is to draw Regina residents attention to the hypocricy and development mania of the current City Council, particularly around its lack of transparency with board appointments, lack of commitment to inner city neighbourhoods, reluctance to declare campaign contributions, and hidden agendas with respect to the SW development.

If you are affected by any of these issues, please come and show your support for the CCFR. We need to show City Hall that citizens are not happy.

Treasurer, CCFR
