Jim Holmes has won a resounding victory in the Actup Briarpatch karaoke dance party poll, capturing 38.8 per cent of the vote as of 10:00 p.m. Wednesday. On the same day, he also won the hearts and minds of thousands of Regina citizens, running a stellar mayoralty campaign against a free-spending rule-bending incumbant who was heavily supported by the only daily newspaper in town. Despite the odds, in the space of a few months Holmes went from a relative unknown to a credible challenger of City Hall's current direction. In the process he built a solid base for the CCFR's future, and even won the grudging acknowledgement of the Leader Post. Movin' on up, indeed!

Guess its time to throw the water on the fire Jim - 14.49% of the vote in a civiv election will never gget you anywheres near to the point where you should be feared. Even in conceding that you had lost the election, you couldnt resist saying that this election was won because some people had deeper pockets, yes - thats why I voted for Fiacco- because he ran a flashier campaign - get real , Pat was re-elected because those who voted knew that he truly was the better man for the job.  Even more refreshing to see is the fact that once again this site is allowing only comments from registered people - cant handle all the post election "I told you so's" I suppose? So - it wont surprise me to see this letter on the site for a short time. See you again in three years - its gonna be pretty boring and lonely around here now that the election is over.

I see little of that in the comments you disperse on web-boards and blogs, but rather a lot of insult and downright nastiness. That, in a civil society is unnecessary and disrespectful.

Written by boris gomez on 2006-11-01 16:26:35 Not painting all with the same brush by any means, but nothing pisses me off more than seeing a vehicle pull up at the Food Bank, full of kids, fresh purchases from the LCB in the back, and two or three adults inside smoking. Money for smokes and beer and they want my pity? Also, hang around down there yourself sometime and see unwanted foodstuffs being thrown out the car window as they drive away from the bank - happens more times than you can believe - or am I just lying? - no, this is a verified sighting.  I help out by monetary donations to Souls Harbour, but that does not mean that I have to respect the "idea" of Anarchy -to me- that is the decline of civalization - or is that being childish?

I may bitch about my taxes etc. but I am not above those that need a hand up - try to give a little to feel better about your own situation - your attitude needs a pickup and that could be just the ticket or are your gums just flapping in the wind?
