Jim Holmes has won a resounding victory in the Actup Briarpatch karaoke dance party poll, capturing 38.8 per cent of the vote as of 10:00 p.m. Wednesday. On the same day, he also won the hearts and minds of thousands of Regina citizens, running a stellar mayoralty campaign against a free-spending rule-bending incumbant who was heavily supported by the only daily newspaper in town. Despite the odds, in the space of a few months Holmes went from a relative unknown to a credible challenger of City Hall's current direction. In the process he built a solid base for the CCFR's future, and even won the grudging acknowledgement of the Leader Post. Movin' on up, indeed!

Newspaper Plus... Written by Citizen Wilson on 2006-10-26 00:39:27 ...42,000 votes. Hardly alone I'd say. Great spin. Challenger? Solid Base? Can you say minority? | Written by boris gomez on 2006-10-26 10:46:31 Good thing that the karoke crew likes Holmes- because thats about the only place that he will ever have that kind of support in this city. Guess its time to throw the water on the fire Jim - 14.49% of the vote in a civiv election will never gget you anywheres near to the point where you should be feared. Even in conceding that you had lost the election, you couldnt resist saying that this election was won because some people had deeper pockets, yes - thats why I voted for Fiacco- because he ran a flashier campaign - get real , Pat was re-elected because those who voted knew that he truly was the better man for the job. Even more refreshing to see is the fact that once again this site is allowing only comments from registered people - cant handle all the post election "I told you so's" I suppose? So - it wont surprise me to see this letter on the site for a short time. See you again in three years - its gonna be pretty boring and lonely around here now that the election is over. | Comments Written by pelliott on 2006-10-26 11:43:42 In case you are wondering about the comment function, see the discussion posts below re. anonymous comments. In brief, behind the scenes we are being spammed into submission and need to suspend anonymous comments at least until we can catch up and get the site cleaned and/or possibly indefinitely - unless you all want to buy strap-on dildos. Hasta la vista, Boris. Been nice knowing you. See you in three years. - Administrator | the lyrics Written by oswald on 2006-10-26 17:40:06 You've done me wrong, your time is up You took a sip (just a sip) from the devil's cup. You broke my heart, there's no way back. Move right outta here baby. Go and pack your bags. Just who do you think you are? Stop acting like some kind of star. Just who do you think you are? Take it like a man baby if that's what you are. 'Cos I'm moving on up. You're moving on out. Movin' on up. Nothing can stop me. Moving on up. You're moving on out. Time to break free. Nothing can stop me, Yeah.

Everybody - come sing along with the CCFR - theys all gonna join in - cause they know wese cant be beat! | that 70's show Written by Citizen Wilson on 2006-10-27 07:35:25 Again, back to the future. Nothing says progress like Bell Bottoms and out dated ideology. Let's do the time warp aga......ain. While on the Rocky Horror theme....... Boring, boring, pretty _______ boring! Quick, to the time machine McFly! | Written by wagmitfam on 2006-10-27 14:44:42 The childishness in here is pretty spectacular. Have you nothing better to do with your time? Like feeding a hungry kid? Or helping out at Soul's Harbour? Or volunteering at the food bank? | Work hard... Written by Citizen Wilson on 2006-10-29 19:17:57 ...and play hard. No sense of Ha-Ha? I prefer to support other charities. I determine where I spend my time, not you. | on civility, or the lack thereof Written by wagmitfam on 2006-10-29 20:26:16 It has nothing to do with having a sense of humour or not; it has, instead, to do with having respect for ideas and possibilities. I see little of that in the comments you disperse on web-boards and blogs, but rather a lot of insult and downright nastiness. That, in a civil society is unnecessary and disrespectful. | Opinions vary... Written by Citizen Wilson on 2006-10-30 10:28:58 ...and thank you for yours. | slamming us? Written by boris gomez on 2006-11-01 16:26:35 Not painting all with the same brush by any means, but nothing pisses me off more than seeing a vehicle pull up at the Food Bank, full of kids, fresh purchases from the LCB in the back, and two or three adults inside smoking. Money for smokes and beer and they want my pity? Also, hang around down there yourself sometime and see unwanted foodstuffs being thrown out the car window as they drive away from the bank - happens more times than you can believe - or am I just lying? - no, this is a verified sighting. I help out by monetary donations to Souls Harbour, but that does not mean that I have to respect the "idea" of Anarchy -to me- that is the decline of civalization - or is that being childish? | Written by hugo chavez on 2006-11-02 13:17:27 Why are you hanging around the food bank ?
| hangin at the bank Written by boris gomez on 2006-11-08 15:45:41 Why Hugo? - its called helping out a not for profit organization - maybe you should try it sometime - or not your style to help out the ones that need it? I may bitch about my taxes etc. but I am not above those that need a hand up - try to give a little to feel better about your own situation - your attitude needs a pickup and that could be just the ticket or are your gums just flapping in the wind? |
