Regina donors honoured PDF Print E-mail

The Canadian Peace Centre in Kigali, Rwanda, will be dedicated to Regina volunteers who raised funds for 1,400 wheelchairs for conflict victims. The dedication ceremony will take place next week, says Terri Sleeva, a Regina disability rights advocate. "Every $110 donation purchases one wheelchair," says Sleeva. "There is a huge need for simple, sturdy wheelchairs." During the conflict in Rwanda millions of civilians had their feet cut off, and many are still waiting for chairs, she says. This Saturday morning, Nov. 18, the Wheelchairs for Rwanda Project will hold a fundraising pancake breakfast at City Hall. For information about tickets, call 545-7378.
