City Council tinkers with City Budget a Bit PDF Print E-mail
    Contributed by Jim Elliott
    Wednesday, 18 April 2007
The City council amended the budget tonight to include a $15,000 increase in civic art purchases budget. At the council meeting tonight, the council added $15,000 to the budget to cover an increase in funding to civic art purchases.  They didn't however approve the $73,000 increase in the Arts Commission funding.  They were cautiloned by Councilor Fougere that if they make any changes beyond the 3.9% increase, that everyone would be asking for more money.  The civic art purchase increase moved the budget increase to 3.91%.  The increase in funding to the Arts Commission and the civic art purchase would have increased the budget to 3.98%.  When averaged over the average taxpayer, Fougere was worried about $0.12 or $1.00 respectively.
