The Cailleach and the Moon Rise to Globalize Resistance The full moon perched on the Muckish moor - a cailleach lifted it into her hands and touched her forehead to its globe. She closed her eyes, and listened to the hum as her pulse adjusted to its lunar tone. Then, beating and breathing, they slowly lifted full face of resistance past – rising over the pig’s back en route to Genoa.
*Globalise Resistance Ireland is an alliance of Irish activists (see website for explanation) *The Cailleach Bhéarra is a female divinity (an old woman) in Irish and Scottish Gaelic tradition and literature – connected to the goddess of sovereignty. (pronounced "kye-luhkh") *Muckish Mountain is in County Donegal, Ireland. Muckish means “pig’s back” in Irish. |
