IMC-Sask coordinator's note: Although we discourage use of offensive or attacking language, this submission to ActUp does address concerns raised in many arenas about the province's social service policies - albeit not always in such strong language - therefore it is posted as submitted for your perusal and comments.
CALVERT'S
NEO-NAZI GOVERNMENT has always bragged time and time again that they
are doing "everything possible to rid our society of poverty,"
particularly child poverty and hunger. But they have actually created
and CAUSED Poverty - particularly Child Hunger and Poverty! Their role
is all encompassing - from one Government Agency to Another! They take
away your dignity at one and force you into degredation through another
agency! It is a vicious circle of political red-tape and redderick,
which makes it far too difficult for the average individual, let alone
those who are suffering, to wade through, simply enough to keep their
heads above water - so, you have more and more people litterally
drowing in the well-padded pockets of the politician's sewage!
The
fact of the matter is, that they have silently and under the table done
exactly what they accuse the Federal Conservatives of doing with regard
to the equalization payments to the province and are now taking them to
court! They have never vocally, through the media or otherwise advised
that there is a BUT to the announcements of the Government bump up to
the Shelter Allowance for those on Social Assistance to meet the High
Rental and increased Mortgage Interest Rates that have recently
occurred.
The fact of the matter, which they kept so quietly under their wolf
fur, is that instead of allowing the Social Workers, Supervisors and to
adhere to the full process of deeming their client's additional help BY
NEED and reason, since they actually meet with their client's - while
someone is ill, going through chemo, suffering a severe trauma – such
as rape, or other serious medical conditions, or single parent’s
dealing with very sick children, those who are deemed unable to work
and/or disabled and unlikely to be able to work or can only work on a
casual basis – the NDP Wolves have instead of helping people in this
crazy housing economy, gone and put a CAP on the Shelter Amount for
these individuals - regardless of the situation or temporary need!
SO, EFFECTIVE OCTOBER 1st, 2007, the NDP GOVERNMENT DOES NOT ALLOW
ANY GIVE - IN THE MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE SHELTER RATE THAT THEY ONLY
INCREASED THE SHELTER AMOUNT (A MERE ~$85.00 PER MONTH FOR A SINGLE
ADULT WITH 1 or 2 CHILDREN ) AND THEN PUT A CAP ON IT SO THAT THE
AMOUNT CANNOT EXCEED THE NOW ALL INCLUSIVE INSURANCE, TAXES, ETC. FOR
SHELTER ALLOWANCE MAXIMUM RATE OF $470.00 PER MONTH, WHICH WAS JUST
UPDATED AS OF OCTOBER 1, 2007 – REGARDLESS OF SPECIAL NEEDS FOR
DISABLED, LOW-INCOME FAMILIES, CHILD POVERTY, EVEN THE SICK AND DYING!
INSTEAD OF PUTTING A CAP ON THE RENTS THAT LANDLORDS CAN CHARGE
-THEY PUT A CAP ON TOTAL SHELTER INCOME & A CAP ON CHILDCARE
ALLOWANCES – EVEN FOR THOSE WHO ARE ILL OR Persons with Disabilities,
Single Parent Families, Families at Risk and Individuals and Families
without a support system of friends, family, or even the lack of
necessary community programs!
This is NOT ONLY A FIRST NATIONS ISSUE - POVERTY, LOW-INCOME,
ILLNESS & DISABILITY AFFECTS EVERY RACE - INCLUDING CAUCASIAN
PEOPLE WHO WERE BORN AND RAISED IN THIS COUNTRY & FOREMOST, THIS
PROVINCE OF SASKATCHEWAN!
THE CALVERT GOVERNMENT HAS (SECRETLY & BEHIND CLOSED
DOORS-NEVER EVER MENTIONED TO MEDIA OR TO THOSE WHO ARE at any level,
DEPENDENT ON SOCIAL ASSISTANCE) PUT A CAP ON THE AMOUNT ALLOWABLE FOR
SHELTER(HOUSING)ALLOWANCE! ALLOWABLE FOR SPECIAL NEEDS GROUPS IS
$150.00 MORE PER FAMILY, PER MONTH - WHICH IT CANNOT EVER EXCEED - EVEN
WHEN THE COST OF LIVING IS GOING UP! So, while every union and employee
is demanding their fair share of cost of living increase, etc., or will
go on work slow-down or strike - WHERE IS THE MOST NEEDY INDIVIDUALS
YEARLY COST OF LIVING INCREASE? IT'S ALWAYS BEEN NON-EXISTANT! The NDP
was well aware of the excessive rental increases throughout Saskatoon
and most of the Province, prior to this CAP that they put on those less
fortunate and many being left without homes, due to the excessive condo
conversions and high rental units, as well as excessive property taxes
and property rentals for trailer courts. Calvert and the NDP Government
clearly DOES NOT C!
ARE and DOES NOT DELIVER! CALVERT’S Neo-Nazi-Mafia appearance is
more setting to the vision of the Wolf in Sheep’s Clothing – and these
Government heads have proven over and over that they cannot be trusted,
as their dealings are usually done under the table, behind closed doors
and are often more corrupt than the dealings of those in our Federal
and Provincial Prisons!
What they didn’t bother to advise the media and the public is that
this shelter amount cannot be exceeded and this amount INCLUDES: Fire
Insurance (Tenant paks or homeowner’s pack) along with any Taxes, Condo
Fees, Lot Rentals (Trailer courts), etc.
IT IS ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND SHELTER IN TODAY’S MARKETS THAT FALL INTO THESE "ALLOWANCES".
YET, ONLY THE RICHT AND POWERFUL ARE ALLOWED TO WASTE MILLIONS OF
TAXPAYER'S DOLLARS ON UNNECESSARY ADVERTISING, UNNECESSARY MAIL-OUTS,
UNNECESSARY CELEBRATIONS WITH EXPENSIVE AND UNNECESSARY FIREWORKS -
WHILE THEY TELL EVERYONE TO PROTECT THE OZONE LAYER! ALL THIS WASTED
SPENDING COULD HELP ALL THE CITIZENS OF THE PROVINCE, PARTICULARLY
THOSE DEPENDANT ON SOCIAL ASSISTANCE TO FINALLY HAVE A LIGHT AT THE END
OF THE TUNNEL AND FIND A REASON TO GO ON LIVING, HAVE A REASON TO
FINALLY LET GO OF HOPELESSNESS AND DEGREDATION!!
DOES THE CALVERT GOVERNMENT REALLY CARE? DOES THE CALVERT GOVERNMENT REALLY HAVE ANY DESIRE TO DELIVER?
OBVIOUSLY NOT!
So, the Social Workers of DCRE tell you that you must go to your
landlord and ask for a decrease in your rent, so that your Rent, Tenant
Pak and Lot Rental all add up to the Maximum Shelter Rate Guideline!
(which is $470 for a Family with one or 2 children and the Max.for a
family of 5 or more children at $600.00 - For Saskatoon, Regina,
Lloydminster only – other centres have lower maximum rates.) In the
case of homeowner’s, (many of which were being introduced by Sask.
Housing for low-income families to finally own their own homes, when
Sask. Housing was still a Division of Social Services–but recently no
longer is) they are told to go to the bank and insurance broker and
re-negotiate your mortgage rate at a less than prime rate, so that your
payments fall well below the current mortgage rate so that the
Mortgage, Taxes, Home Pak must not exceed the Maximum Shelter Rate
Guideline.
Well, in this market, we all know what the answer is from the
landlord – too bad–find somewhere else to live! Many landlord’s insist
that the renter’s have a tenant pak to rent the place! The Bank will
tell you that you must have a Home Pak to retain your mortgage and
advise you that they cannot budge on the interest rate or the term of
your mortgage, because they are already at the lowest level for the
market! The length of the term is also already set over the longest
period–so there is really no room for movement. So, now they either
sell the house and give any proceeds there might be back to Social
Services, (even if they themselves paid down the majority of the home
out of their earnings, when they were able to work) - so that they must
now, whether disabled, of ill health or not, must go out and attempt to
find adequate and “affordable” housing in a tight and high-level market
that will not meet their budget - whether they would have to purchase
or rent!

the current rates are far from securing safe and healthy housing for those who are most in need.

Then,
when those families are unable to attain a safe, healthy home within
their budget for their family, once again, you are again threatened to
find the "MAXIMUM ALLOWABLE" accommodation and any support and help on
your own, or the government and the government agency that has vowed to
help families live together in safe and healthy conditions, will remove
the children from their loving parents, and placed into far more
expensive and seen with my own eyes - far less loving, caring or foster
homes – because the Calvert Government who claims to Care – is more
than happy to pay a foster home $700.00/month PLUS for Each Child in
care, but they will not give the needed and lesser amount required to
secure the basic needs of your family, safe and healthy shelter,
adequate food, clothing, sundry and travel budget!
Yet, societies’ greedy thieves–the politicians, judges, lawyers,
civil union employees and self-perceived "holier-than-thou"
individuals, such as John Gormley, who were silver-spoon fed since an
infant, have had everything handed to them on a silver platter–and have
never had to worry about how they were going to feed their children
breakfast in the morning–or if they will ever find decent housing for
their children to call home within their allowable budget–are the ones
who choose to ignore the realities of how difficult it is for ordinary
people to survive in this world!
People who have had no other recourse than to depend on Social
Assistance to survive are certainly not happy to have to do so. Most
deperately want to get well and want to work to provide a better life
for themselves and their families!
Most of these people in need of assistance are NOT Alcoholics, NOT
Drug Addicted, but have real and difficult situations to overcome, such
as physical and sexual abuse, caring for the children that often comes
from those abusive situations that they continue to try and free
themselves from, with actually zero to little help from the justice
system - and nothing more offered to them then years of "Counselling"
that NEVER, EVER, removes the pain and the poverty that they must live
with for the rest of their lives!
Most of these people are left with life-long disabilities due to
false Selling Features of insurance companies, such as SGI’s “No Fault”
injury program and it's untimely, inept, non-caring, inaccurate medical
diagnosis and inappropriate treatment regimes, which actually more
often than not, has created worse health issues for those clients, now
making them dependant on the Provincial Healthcare System that is also
inept and untimely in caring for Sask. Patients and prefers to keep
patients sedated and kept on many physician’s recall lists–to ensure
more money for the doctors, the pharmacists, inappropriate treatment
programs by physical therapists, lack of speedy surgery, too long wait
lists, excessive spending on pharmaceuticals keeping the pharmaceutical
companies wealthy beyond reason – all at the expense of the patients
who are only asking for a life free of the clutches of a Neo-Nazi
Government! Just ask many older people who lived in those days, our
grandparents and g!
reat grandparents have warned us for years – the NDP Platform is
filled with communism and will literally own every farm, every home,
every business - and every person – do dictate who will live and who
will die.
The NDP also put a CAP on Childcare needs – at an hourly rate of
approx $3.00/hour.It is impossible to find qualified and responsible
childcare, even if it is required for health reasons, at this rate.The
daily rate is only $25 per day or overnight stays (a 24 hour
period).Even 12 and 13 yr old babysitters will not babysit for less
than $8.00/hour – because some Overpaid Government Union Employee or
Politician down the way will pay them $10 or $15/hour!Then they tell
you that you must follow the necessary criteria for experienced and
responsible childcare or your children will be removed and put in
foster care! This includes a criminal background check of the caregiver
and those that will be in contact with your children, First Aid and
CPR, Babysitting Courses, Early Childhood Development,Own
Transportation, to name some of the few! However, Foster homes DO NOT
have to follow these criteria and can have anyone cover for the
caregiver for hours and days at a time, without fo!
llowing the criteria that is demanded of natural parents!
The NDP has also dropped the amount that can be earned by those who
are trying to get back on their own feet and CAPPED it so low that
there can never be any consideration made for the cost of
transportation, funding for work related mandatory events or deductions
(charitable donations, union dues, office birthdays, etc.) Families can
only earn a maximum of $125.00 month before each dollar earned is
deducted, dollar for dollar from their benefits, often putting them
further into despair, so that there is really NO INCENTIVE FOR PEOPLE
ON SOCIAL ASSISTANCE TO GO TO WORK!
This is the workings of a NEO-NAZI NDP Government who has ensured
that so many people are suffering, whether it be low-income, lack of
prompt and qualified health care, by pacifying patients by becoming
“legal” Drug Pushers, by only having physicians offer prescription
medications to deal with the previous easily treatable and cureable
diseases or illnesses, that are not dealt with in a timely manner,
making the illness longstanding and finally in a stage where it is no
longer treatable or even curable. They are playing GOD to the people of
SK and deciding who will live and who will die!
If you don’t have the funding to get private health care
out-of-province and even in-province – you are bounced from one
physician to another to another, to specialist to Specialist and
everyone of them claims to not have the resources or knowledge to do
anything - unless your willing to pay for it out of your own pocket and
go out of province or out of country! These people can't even find
housing and if they do, they have no funding left for food - let alone
pay thousands of dollars for health-related tests or even to finally
get an ACCURATE Diagnosis!
They also advise that Children’s Basic needs are paid through the
federal/provincial child benefit – of which the Calvert Government has
not participated in for at least one year or more and there are no
child benefit funds coming from the Province of Saskatchewan! The
menial amount received per child is often what is going to be needed to
cover the rent/mortgage, the tenant/home pak, or the taxes/condo fees,
as applicable, and will still fall short by hundreds of dollars each
month!
If there is anything left over, then there is the cost of sending a
child to school – it’s not cheap anymore – the child’s constant need
for Money for Safe Transportation to and from school, School Programs,
Excursions, fundraiser’s, charitable donations, equipment rentals,
etc.–the schools are asking for money nearly everyday of the week for
some sort of event or excursion or donation–All which are made
mandatory, because few parents are financially,emotionally or
physically able to provide on a constant basis to the school-and many
month’s the remainder of what’s left of the child benefit cannot even
purchase adequate needs of the child, such as weather-appropriate
clothing, since children do grow out of there clothes - sometimes
within a month or two or even to try to provide nutritional lunches!
Is it any wonder there are fewer and fewer Social Assistance
children enrolled in the Education system? Transportation is a big
issue to getting little ones to school and the fact that very few
schools actually have a nutrition program in place and since the
parents can’t afford to purchase healthy and quick lunches for rushed
school snacks of 5 minutes and 15 to 20 minutes of eating time for
lunch breaks (because they try to cram in physical exercise for 10
minutes at recess and at least 25 to 30 minutes at lunch) there is
really few options for single parents to get one or more children to
school, particularly if the parent is ill, has really no support system
(this is NOT the 1950’s where everyone in the family helped one another
– everyone else is busy trying to survive too –by working 2 or more
jobs, etc.) No wonder more and more low - middle class families with
young children find the need to use the food bank on a regular basis.
Because they have been given no other a!
lternative! Their food allowance is being used directly for
shelter(rent or still very low mortgage payments on houses purchased
years ago, but because of unforeseen illness, neo-nazi strategies like
SGI’s “No-Fault” Injury program that doesn’t pay one red cent to the
injured parties, only to NDP’s hand-picked, unqualified,
unprofessional, inept, greed-driven Physical Rehabs that were built
overnight as soon as the neo-nazi NDP created the SGI’s “No Fault”
Injury program!
But to expect that these low-income, disabled and those with
medical reasons for not being able to work - should just suck it up,
because “well, there is the food bank that they can go to” – is
degrading, humiliating & UNHEALTHY!!To receive a 2 to 3 day ration
of food, only once every 14 days (which in fact won’t give a small
family 3 meals a day) which is loaded with more junk food that decent
food, where families have to beg to get a quart of milk or anything
less than scraps of your unwanted foods, that are made up of rotten
fruit and vegetables bread and pastry that is green with mold - is
literally putting the nail in the coffin–which is why the suicide,
murder and other high crime rates exist!NO ONE wants to live a life
that is clearly so desolate-WHILE THESE FAMILIES ARE ONCE AGAIN DIGGING
DEEPER INTO THEIR BASIC ALLOWANCE, of which the CHILDREN are exempt and
receive nothing extra - FOR FOOD, CLOTHING, HYGIENE PRODUCTS, WHICH
INCLUDES LAUNDRY, CLEANING SUPPLIES, SOAP!
, ETC.)
FACT: Child Poverty and HUNGER is A GROWING PROBLEM in SASKATCHEWAN!!
Many very low-income people and families are literally at the mercy
of Social Assistance, due to untimely,inadequate & unprofessional,
quackery in our health care system,which is an excessive &
expensive administration of all areas of health care and other
government agencies, along with complete and udder lack of direction of
All Levels of Government for all low-income, disabled and severely ill
parent's or children within families.
The politicians don't get it, never have, never will, because they
have always been paid undue and excessive salaries, pensions, etc. for
severely, greed induced, meagre performances!
Yet, what do they do? Instead of using logic and putting money
toward Repairing the HealthCare System – which doesn’t require an
expensive route of hiring another past NDP Greedy Politician or a
Rocket Scientist - to oversee a study on the healthcare system
– it’s far easier and less expensive to ask the people who are
caught in the non-functional and phoney “Wellness Model” of the
healthcare system – WE WILL TELL YOU POINT BLANK – AND THE FIX IS REAL
EASY!!! e.g. – here are only a couple points, yet there are many more
illogical healthcare decisions and protocols that are nothing short of
a waste of funding and quickly reduce quality healthcare:
1.TOO MANY ADMINISTRATIVE POSTIONS AND HEALTH BOARDS – HINT: IT’S
NOT WORKING FOR THOSE WHO NEED HEALTHCARE – IT IS ONLY WORKING
FINANCIALLY FOR THOSE ON THE BOARDS AND TOP END ADMINISTRATIVE HOT AIR
INDIVIDUALS WHO HAVE NEVER HAD TO DEPEND ON THE PUBLIC HEALTH CARE
SYSTEM!
2.WASTED EXCESSIVE MONEY IN 1993 AT ST. PAUL’S HOSPITAL HEALTH
RECORDS – TO SET UP A COMPUTER SYSTEM THAT DID NOTHING MORE THAN
TRANSFER PATIENT ADMISSION INFORMATION TO AN EXPENSIVE, YET INADEQUATE
AND UNINFORMATIVE SOFTWARE PROGRAM - THAT WAS NOT AVAILABLE TO ANY OF
THE OTHER HOSPITAL’S ANYWAY – AS PROMISED - ONLY ST. PAUL’S AND NOT
EVEN ALL OF ST. PAUL’S DEPARTMENTS!IT DID NOT EVEN ALLOW THE INCLUSION
OF NOTING ANY ALERTS ON THE PATIENT, SUCH AS ALLERGIES OR SERIOUS
SIDE-EFFECTS TO MEDICATIONS, PAST SERIOUS ILLNESSES OR CONDITIONS –
NOTHING - Except the Patient Name, Address, DOB, Next of Kin, Phone #,
Date of Admission, Location in Hospital, and Attending Physician.
Then it was so cumbersome and inaccurate because of “system bugs”
that the old system of index Admission Cards still needed to be
retained on an on-going basis to ensure that the information was deemed
accurate!What a waste of Time Management and Money!
To Date – after excessive costs, the system with necessary and
Imperative Information on each patient that SHOULD BE AVAILABLE to all
Hospitals and Dr’s. Offices is still Non-Existent! And the company that
developed was not even knowledgeable enough to know how develop more
fields for the system to work properly and they would not even listen
to those on staff, who clearly had more knowledge of how to create
fields and create a useful program, than those that were paid in excess
for their limited talent!
TO DATE – THIS SYSTEM IS STILL SERIOUSLY FLAWED AND THERE IS
EXCESSIVE AMOUNTS OF INACCURATE MEDICAL INFORMATION ON PATIENT CHARTS!
PATIENTS WOULD BE APPALLED TO LEARN OF THE FABRICATED AND UNFOUNDED
ASSUMPTIONS THAT ARE NOW CONSIDERED A “DIAGNOSIS” – WITHOUT THE
NECESSARY INVESTIGATIONS, OR AN ADEQUATE PHYSICIAN/PATIENT VISIT, THAT
CAUSES THE PATIENT TO WAIT FOR HOURS, BUT IS ONLY ACTUALLY ABLE TO SEE
THE PHYSICIAN FOR 3 OR LESS MINUTES PER VISIT!
ALL OF THE GOVERNMENT LEADERS AND THEIR SUPPORTERS, UNION EMPLOYEES
AND THOSE INDIVIDUALS WHO THE GOVERNMENT PAYS EXCESSIVELY FOR THEIR
LACK OF TALENT AND KNOWLEDGE IN THEIR “FIELD” - INCLUDING THEIR FRIENDS
AND FAMILY, ALONG WITH THE GREED OF THOSE WHO INDIRECTLY BENEFIT WITH
HIGH INCOMES FROM THEIR GREED AND FAVORITISM -
ARE, WITHOUT A DOUBT - THE REASON THAT OUR PROVINCE AND OUR
COUNTRY IS FILLED WITH VICTIMS OF ILL-HEALTH, DISABILITIES, DISRESPECT,
CRIME, POVERTY AND PARTICULARLY CHILD POVERTY –
Regardless of what they say publicly - by making very false
CLAIMS that THAT THEY ARE DOING ‘EVERYTHING’ TO RID OUR SOCIETY OF
POVERTY, PARTICULARLY CHILD POVERTY!!! WE CALL B.S.!!!
HOW? LIKE THIS? FORCE MORE PEOPLE INTO DESTITUDE AND DEGRADATION SO
THAT THEY HAVE NO OTHER CHOICE THAN TO BECOME EXACTLY WHAT THE HIGH AND
MIGHTY MID TO HIGH INCOME EARNING CITIZENS EXPECT?
IT'S EASY TO BE SO JUDGEMENTAL WHEN YOU ARE IN THE GROUP OF THE
RICH AND GREEDY GOVERNMENT EMPLOYEES AND OTHER MID - HIGH WAGE EARNERS
(WHO DRIVE $40,000 SUV'S, HAVE MAIDS TO DO THEIR DAILY HOUSEWORK,
NANNIES TO RAISE THEIR CHILDREN, FINANCIALLY WELL-OFF PARENT'S WHO PAID
FOR THEIR EDUCATION & GAVE THEM THE FINANCIAL BACKING TO BUY THEIR
FIRST, SECOND, THIRD EXPENSIVE HOMES, VEHICLES, BOATS, CABINS at the
LAKE, ETC. AND WHO STILL ARE CONTINUOUSLY SELF-RIGHTEOUS ABOUT WHAT
THEY BELIEVE THEY DESERVE, NOT WORK HARD FOR - BUT DESERVE – AND STILL
– THEY CONSTANTLY WHINE ABOUT THEIR LACK OF THE EVER GROWING YEARLY
"COST OF LIVING" INCREASES ON A SALARY THEY REALLY DON'T EVEN DESERVE
NOW!! BUT, SOMEHOW THEY SEEM TO BELIEVE THAT THEY CAN STILL AFFORD TO
GO ON STRIKE AT THE DROP OF A HAT TO FORCE GOVERNMENT AND BUSINESS TO
GIVE THEM EVEN MORE MONEY THAN LOW-INCOME FAMILIES COULD ONLY DREAM OF!
IT'S JUST TOO EASY FOR THEM TO TURN A BLIND EYE AND MAKE
ASSUMPTIONS ABOUT PEOPLE WHO ARE LESS FORTUNATE THAN THEM! IT’S EASY TO
ASSUME THAT EVERYONE IN LOW-INCOME ARE NOTHING MORE THAN ALCOHOLICS,
DRUGGIES, PROSTITUTES, ETC. – OTHERWISE referred to AS ‘LOW-LIFES’.
UNTIL THEY THEMSELVES - OR A FAMILY MEMBER ARE AFFECTED BY
LESS-FORTUNATE INCIDENT(S) – something - be it a medical issue, a
severe car accident, being raped or other victims of violence – not
necessarily in a family unit (of which the police and justice system
don’t have any time for or care to deal with), being beaten by unknown
individuals or having your home, yard & vehicles vandalized because
you are not wearing the right color, or any other unfortunate event or
even sequence of events that happens to you or someone in your family
and you will learn very quickly that there really are no 100%
guarantees that your “Safety Nets” you put in place will deem you
qualified to receive benefits.
You will also QUICKLY LEARN that your family and friends will find
every excuse under the sun to make themselves completely UNAVAILABLE to
you or your families needs, because they don't want anyone to know that
you are somehow connected to them, in case the "bad luck" should fall
onto them - they turn their back when you are desperate to have
childcare while you go for chemo, etc., and all they can do is keep
insisting that there is supposed to be all these Government and
Community Safety Nets out there for you – even “Professionals” will try
to steer you to these vaguely existing places that are also heavily
ridden with political ties and inexperienced, unqualified staff or
volunteers, and then most often to learn that you do not qualify for
their specified mandate and so - you learn very quickly that you are at
the mercy of a Government who really does not care and is actually the
wolf in the sheep’s clothing!
Many Social Services recipients are Disabled parents - many who are
single with little to NO “free” family or friendly support, have had
barriers upon barriers - even to access the justice system in securing
child support - which would not help their situation anyway - because
it would be deducted dollar for dollar from their Benefit cheques -
(unlike those who are able to work AND receive NON-TAXABLE Child
Support, keeping every dollar for the use towards the children - yet,
if those on Assistance receive a tax refund - it goes directly back to
Social Assistance). Many of these people have become disabled due to
worsening of their condition due to a very Untimely, Sick and seriously
Inadequate Health Care System and many medical staff, along with family
physicians, who no longer actually DO anything for their patients, even
simple physicals, simple surgical procedures that were done 15 to 20
years ago by family physicians, are nothing more than glorified paper
pushers! The!
ir job is to fill out forms, send patients to Specialists (often
to the wrong type of Specialist and even when it’s not even required)
and the Specialist’s Reports to the family doctor are very vague and
lack the strength of accurate and adept diagnosis or seriously
inaccurate or non-interested diagnosis! Then the family doctor is left
with the responsibility of writing the letters to insurance agencies,
social services, etc. which is often deemed as unacceptable due to lack
of necessary and accurate diagnosis or appropriate investigations
and/or treatment!
So the family physicians try to have the Specialists (or Physical
Rehabs) write more concise and specific reports, so that their patient
can be treated adequately in a timely manner, but the Specialists will
NOT WRITE LETTERS ON THE PATIENT’S BEHALF FOR SGI or any other agency -
most physicians won’t, because their payroll is also dependant on the
Government and because they are afraid that if their “interpretation”
of the patient’s illness is inaccurate – they will be sued, or at the
very least have their license revoked!
Physician's should be screened to be completely knowledgeable &
"professional" with the necessary credentials to practice medicine, as
well as be able to speak and accurately comprehend the ENGLISH
LANGUAGE! Physicians in Saskatchewan SHOULD be certain of your
diagnosis – not just guess and by golly like the rest of society!
Now, back to the previous subject of Housing and those dependent on Social Services:
HOW CAN A GOVERNMENT BE CONSIDERED HONEST AND CARING, WHEN THEY
QUIETLY and UNDERHANDEDLY PUTTING A CAP ON SHELTER ALLOWANCE -
ESPECIALLY IN TODAY'S MARKET? OR A CAP ON THE AMOUNT FOR BABYSITTING
COSTS? (WHICH IS FAR BELOW WHAT EVEN TEENAGE BABYSITTERS WILL ACCEPT),
AS WELL AS A CAP THAT HAS ALSO BEEN PUT ON FOOD REQUIREMENTS - WHETHER
OR NOT A SPECIAL NEED EXISTS, AND A CAP HAS BEEN PUT ON THE BASIC
ALLOWANCE - THAT MEANS FOR A SINGLE PARENT FAMILY, THEY WILL ONLY
RECEIVE THE $255/MONTH FOR FOOD, CLOTHING, SUNDRIES FOR THE WHOLE
FAMILY!!! THERE IS NOTHING MORE ALLOWABLE FOR THE NEEDS OF FOOD OR
CLOTHING FOR CHILDREN, AS THEY HAVE STATED - BUT FROM THE CHILD BENEFIT
- which also will quickly be depleted to cover off the amount of rent,
insurance, taxes or condo fees, as well as any food or children's
tyelenol, or other medications that in-fact ARE NOT covered for those
on Social Assistance! They receive the same prescription coverage as
everyone else - if it's not in the f!
ormulary - you must pay for the full prescription!
Social Workers at DCRE have suggested that if your food allowance
costs more than your basic benefit, then you should keep the receipts
and send in all your receipts for food - so that you can be re-imbursed
for the amounts that are over and above your basic allowance. BUT - HOW
CAN YOU SUPPLY RECEIPTS FOR FOOD THAT YOU DO NOT HAVE THE MONEY TO BUY
TO EVEN GET THE RECEIPTS??
It's the same problem when it comes to medical supplies, even
things like Incontinence Products - It has to be purchased up front
(with the money that apparently falls from the sky) and then send in
your original receipt - in hopes that you will be warranted the
reimbursement for - if it is not lost in all the chaos within the Dept.
and assuming your worker and or supervisor are in a good mood when they
receive it and cut you a cheque for the reimbursed amount. When you do
not have the money to purchase extra needed and medical products, e.g.
incontinence products, how can one even be expected to leave their
home, or to even try to find a job, when they can't even leave for a
half an hour, without soiling themselves....and the physicians claim
they can't do anything in the near future - meaning a waiting list of 7
years plus!
BUT WAIT - BECAUSE IT IS IMPOSSIBLE FOR A PARENTS - (Especially
Single Parents with only a single basic allowance payable, rather than
the 2 basic allowances for two parents) TO FIND ADEQUATE, SAFE AND
HEALTHY LIVING CONDITIONS FOR EVEN JUST THEMSELVES AND THEIR ONE OR TWO
CHILDREN FOR $470.00 PER MONTH, THE REMAINDER OF THE RENT WILL HAVE TO
COME FROM THE BASIC ALLOWANCE OF $200.00/MONTH! IF the parent has A
SPECIAL NEEDS CHILD OR REQUIRES SPECIAL NEEDS THEMSELF - THEN THE WILL
RECEIVE ONLY AND ADDITIONAL $50.00/MONTH - EVALUATED ON A MONTHLY BASIS
- PUTTING MORE STRESS ON THE DISABLED OR ILL PATIENT - SO THAT THEIR
CONDITION WILL DETERIORATE, PUTTING EVEN MORE STRESS ON THE HEALTHCARE
SYSTEM, BECAUSE THESE PEOPLE HAVE TO HAVE THE PHYSICIAN SEND A MEDICAL
EACH MONTH TO THE SOCIAL WORKER!
THE AMOUNT THAT INDIVIDUALS ON ASSISTANCE CAN EARN BEFORE DEDUCTING
FROM THEIR SOCIAL ASSISTANCE HAS ALSO BEEN CAPPED AT A LOWER RATE THAN
PREVIOUSLY ALOTTED! THIS MEAGRE ALLOWABLE INCOME BEFORE DOLLAR FOR
DOLLAR DEDUCTION GIVES ABSOLUTELY NO INCENTIVE FOR THOSE INDIVIDUALS
MOST IN NEED TO TRY AND GET A JOB, BECAUSE THEY HAVE NO FUNDS EVEN
AVAILABLE TO COVER THEIR BASIC NECESSITIES, LET ALONE FUNDS FOR GETTING
TO WORK OR WHY WOULD THE CALVERT GOVERNMENT PUT THESE CAPS ON THOSE
MOST IN NEED NOW - WHEN THE PRICES OF RENTALS HAVE SKY-ROCKETED, FEWER
AVAILABLE PLACES TO RENT, BECAUSE OF THE CONDO CONVERSIONS?? THE
CALVERT GOVERNMENT DECIDES TO ALLOW LESS THAN ADEQUATE FUNDS FOR
INDIVIDUALS AND FAMILIES FOR BASIC SAFE AND HEALTHY HOUSING (SHELTER)
INCLUDING ALL AND ANYTHING RELATED TO SHELTER - INCLUDING FIRE
INSURANCE, CONDO FEES, OR FOR PROPERTY TAXES FOR THOSE WHO PURCHASED A
HOME MANY YEARS AGO AT A FAR LOWER COST THAN TODAY (WHOSE MORTGAGE IS
WITHOUT DOUBT TO BE FAR LESS TH!
AN RENT THESE DAYS) ARE STILL SERIOUSLY FALLING SHORT!THERE ARE
VERY FEW LOW-INCOME HOUSING SHELTERS AVAILABLE IN THE WHOLE
PROVINCE-LET ALONE THE CITY OF SASKATOON!
PREVIOUSLY, everyone on Social Assistance was assigned a Social
Worker, who would, along with their Supervisor’s, use JUDGEMENTAL
DISCRETION for Special Needs for Housing, etc. for those INDIVIDUALS
WHO HAVE LIFE-ALTERING DISABILITIES OR SERIOUS MEDICAL ISSUES (SPECIAL
NEEDS PARENTS AND/OR CHILDREN)TO GRANT additional necessary funding FOR
SHELTER through a process in the DCRE Office. Now, they have been
demoted from Social Workers to ONLY Financial Aids, who no longer have
any authority or can act as an advocate for their own clients!
THE REAL REASON THERE IS SUCH A DEMAND FOR FOSTER FAMILIES TO TAKE IN CHILDREN??
WELL, INSTEAD OF HELPING OUT LOW-INCOME FAMILIES SO THAT THEY CAN
GAIN SOME SELF-RESPECT & DIGNITY IN A PATHETIC AND INADEQUATE
HEALTH CARE SYSTEM THAT KEEPS PEOPLE SICKER LONGER THAN NECESSARY, OR
HELPING THEM TO HAVE ADEQUATE CHILDCARE AND NECESSARY FUNDING FOR THE
BASIC NECESSITIES OF THE FAMILY AND BEING ABLE TO RETAIN THE CHILD
SUPPORT PAYMENT AND REASONABL INCOME THAT THEY MIGHT EARN, BEFORE
STARTING TO MAKE DOLLAR FOR DOLLAR CUTS, OR MAKING IT MORE AND MORE
DIFFICULT FOR PEOPLE TO EVER RETURN TO THEIR NECESSARY HEALTH, SO THAT
THEY CAN ONCE AGAIN BE ABLE TO GO BACK TO WORK - ENSURE THAT WE ALL
HAVE "CANADIAN QUALIFIED" PHYSICIANS WHO ARE ALLOWED TO TAKE THE TIME
NEEDED TO ENSURE THAT EACH PATIENT IS ACTUALLY BEING WELL SERVED IN OUR
HEALTHCARE SYSTEM, NOT PUSHED ASIDE TO GET WORSE FOR MONTHS AND YEARS -
TO THE POINT OF NO RETURN - WHEREBY NO MEDICAL INTERVENTION WILL MAKE
LIFE BETTER FOR THEM -– CALVERT'S Government and SUPPORTERS WOULD
RATHER LET THE AILING PARENT RE!
MAIN DEPENDANT ON MORE AND MORE PRESCRIPTION DRUGS, WHILE SITTING
ON EXCESSIVELY LONG WAIT LISTS - EVEN FOR CANCER TREATMENTS - AND WHEN
THESE AILING PARENT'S ARE UNABLE TO MENTALLY, PHYSICALLY AND
FINANCIALLY COPE WITH ALL OF THE STRESSES IN FAMILY LIFE AND THEY HAVE
FINALLY TAKEN AWAY THE ABILITY FOR THE AILING PARENT'S TO ADEQUATELY
PROVIDE ALL THE BASIC NECESSITIES FOR THEIR CHILDREN, THE CALVERT
GOVERNMENT THAT ENSURES WE LIVE WITHIN IN FAILING HEALTH SYSTEM, AND
ARE UNABLE TO CARE FOR OURSELVES, LET ALONE OUR CHILDREN!
CALVERT’S GOVERNMENT & HIS SUPPORTERS DON'T CARE AT ALL!!
The NDP Government has done precisely what they are taking the
Federal PC's (Harper) to Court for! NDP's claim that the Federal Gov't
was to allow Saskatchewan over the CAP placed on the equalization
payments that come to Saskatchewan! These FAMILIES and yes, many, many,
CHILDREN CAN CLEARLY SEE WHO THE WOLVES IN SHEEPS CLOTHING ARE! MY SIX
YEAR OLD SPELLED IT OUT AFTER WEEKS OF OUR FAMILY BEING SUBJECTED to
EXPENSIVE AND UNNECESSARY FEAR-MONGERING POLITICAL COMMERCIALS, AS WELL
AS LAST NIGHT’S DEBATE –my seven-year old, after some reflective
thought said, “THEY ARE THE ARE ALL WOLVES IN SHEEPS CLOTHING!” I asked
who is, I received the reply “THE NDP, the PC’S, and that Loud-mouthed
JOHN GORMELY! They all sound like greedy, hungry wolves looking to each
other to help make themselves rich!”
WHEN CHILDREN CAN SEE THROUGH THE REDDERICK –ISN’T IT TIME WE
OPENED UP OUR OWN EYES TO REALITY!?? John Gormley spews more clearly
biased political B.S. than anyone – and on a daily basis!!! Even more
than he tries to lay onto David Karwacki’s performance during the
political debate! It’s time that JOHN GORMLEY shut his damned mouth and
be taken off the air! It’s time he made a point of leaving is obvious
biased political views in the toilet where they belong and starts
listening to other’s – so he can finally hear, see and feel how other
people’s lives are affected by his biased views!
HOW DO WE CARE FOR ANY GOVERNMENT THAT WOULD RATHER PAY LESS THAN
ADEQUATE NEEDS TO FAMILIES AND PARENTS WHO LOVE AND WANT THEIR CHILDREN
– BUT TURN AROUND AND REMOVE THOSE CHILDREN FROM THEIR LOVING HOMES AND
PUT THEM INTO FOSTER HOMES WITH A LIVING ALLOWANCE OF A MINIMUM OF
$700.00/MONTH per child and UP (depending on the Child's Needs) – but
will not offer a few hundred dollars to natural parents to be able to
give the children a safe and healthy home – sometimes, simply because a
parent or a child is ill, which is more often than not due to AN
INCOMPETENT PHYSICIAN AND/OR HEALTHCARE SYSTEM THAT IS FAR MORE
EXPENSIVE THAN IT IS WORTH!
There is no adequate available RESPITE for Natural Parents AT ALL
for a medically ill parent - for cancer treatments, etc., even for
single parents who are trying to care for their natural children, yet
needs ample time for appointments, rest periods, etc. – PARENTS OF
YOUNG CHILDREN DO NOT QUALIFY FOR RESPITE UNLESS IT IS THE CHILD THAT
IS ILL – BUT INSTEAD OF RESPITE, THEY ARE FORCES TO PLACE THEIR
CHILDREN IN FOSTER CARE AT A FAR MORE EXPENSIVE RATE. ONCE THAT OCCURS,
THEN YOU NEED TO BE WELL ENOUGH TO EVEN VISIT WITH THEM OR TO EVER GET
THEM BACK AND THE DOCTOR DOESN’T DEEM THAT YOU ARE MEDICALLY WELL
ENOUGH TO CARE FOR YOUR CHILDREN ON YOUR OWN, BUT THERE IS NO
ASSISTANCE GIVEN FOR CHILDCARE, RESPITE, OR EVEN ADEQUATE FUNDS TO PAY
FAMILY OR FRIENDS TO GIVE UP THEIR JOBS AND BUSY LIVES TO HELP CARE FOR
THE CHILDREN - SO ONCE AGAIN, IT IS UP TO SOCIAL ASSISTANCE AND THE NDP
GOVERNMENT DECIDE WHEN YOU CAN EVER BE REUNITED WITH YOUR CHILDREN.
MANY PEOPLE, OFTEN HEADS OF FAMILIES with small children, ARE
UNABLE TO WORK DUE TO PHYSICAL INJURY - BUT - BOTH WCB and THE NDP'S
CROWN CORP - SGI'S 'NO FAULT' fall severely short of was not always a
choice - there were many years that there was no choice and if you
happened to be injured in an accident during that time – you most
likely have had to lean on the Social Assistance Program for at least a
short period of time.
WHEN IT COMES TO SASKATCHEWAN LOW-INCOME FAMILIES, CHILD POVERTY,
PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES AND/OR MEDICAL SPECIAL NEEDS FOR THOSE WHO ARE
NOT EMPLOYABLE & WOMEN'S ISSUES - including ensuring that the
Justice System is less than Corrupt and actually charge and use the
means available to prosecute the growing number of male rapists against
Women and Children.
These perverse men are still thought of as “boys will be boys” and
are repetitively set free without any percussions - even when it
pertains to the rape of 2 & 3 year olds, and younger infants!
Numerous women and children have their lives torn apart and are often
dismissed by police services, told to get counselling and there are
seldom any real repercussions for the rapists!
These rapists live all around us, re-offending in every, city, town
and hamlet in Saskatchewan, but there is a claim that there is not
enough funding or manpower to bring these people to justice! The
victims lives are forever destroyed and shattered, without the ability
to actually heal or be confident and sure of themselves in a society
that is prejudice against women and children, a society who believes
that these women and children “need to have a better attitude or some
sense "f’d" into them." These victims - women and children who are
raped by grown men and left to try to survive in often less than human
conditions, no support system, legal red tape, no assistance for
childcare, also now will have to forever live with rejection, be
stereo-typed and labelled by society as “free meat”, “pre-TEENderized
meat”, etc. and the infants and children will live a less than happy
life, always feeling the affects of the teen and adult men who raped
them, even if they don’t remember !
the incident, their trust and ability to express love will be
damaged for life – yet, more often than not, these rapists, even when
reported to the authorities, walk away free – often without even being
charged!
Where is CALVERT's Government support for Women and Children
Victims, Victims of Inadequate Injury Insurance Coverage – like SGI –
or Victims of a Costly and Expensive Healthcare system that is overrun
with EXCESSIVE AND EXPENSIVE Pharmaceuticals,
often overdosed with too many administered medications that then cause New medically induced health problems for patients?
Where is the support from the Calvert Government or any Government
for these victims who are left to suffer the repercussions for a
lifetime – and even their children’s lifetime??? They are left to
suffer, PHYSICALLY, EMOTIONALLY, PSYCHOLOGICALLY and FINANCIALLY - and
it carries on for DECADES!
A Government that offers breadcrumbs for support, but will only
give you so much “allowance”, just enough to to keep you fully
dependent on them, JUST LIKE AN ABUSIVE, CONTROLLING PARTNER would!!!

Hi , i do need some info , the building i live in is managed by
progressive property management , the caretaker of the building has
been coming 4-5 days days before the 1st of every month to collect the
rent , and also charging people a 25.00 late fee for anything paid
after the 1st before the 5th of every month . She also slid the
eviction notice under the door ,and reasons for eviction was leaves in
hallway , disturbance but no one lives across, above or next to us so
the list goes on . If you can provide me with any info that i can use
to win my claim please do so and thks.
