New Sask Govt Xmas present to prairie dog PDF Print E-mail
    Contributed by Brent Pushkarenko
    Sunday, 20 January 2008
Is it a political move, or just tidying up?

That's the question Regina's Prairie Dog Magazine is asking.

After years of the paper being distributed in local liquor stores, the managers of those stores told the Prairie Dog last month that could not happen anymore.

Sask Liquor and Gaming (SLGA) insists there has always been a policy banning unrelated flyers and publications in its stores.

Terry Morash is the publisher of the Prairie Dog. He says he is still waiting for government officials to tell him that directly.

To Morash, it appears that the new government is making a change for political reasons, given that the Prairie Dog is openly critical of the SaskParty. But, he cautions that until he speaks with the SLGA directly, he will not make that assumption.

I'm sure that conversation will never happen. Well...I take this as good news. If Walls "new" government is this paranoid then think of the fun we can have. If the "new" government of Sask makes blocking a community paper one of their priorities it tells us a lot. It's both frightening and informative. Hmmm....what else is Wall afraid of?
