"..But when society places hundreds of proletarians in such a position that they inevitably meet a too early and an unnatural death, one which is quite as much a death by violence as that by the sword or bullet; when it deprives thousands of the necessaries of life, places them under conditions in which they cannot live - forces them, through the strong arm of the law, to remain in such conditions until that death ensues which is the inevitable consequence - knows that these thousands of victims must perish, and yet permits these conditions to remain, its deed is murder just as surely as the deed of the single individual; disguised, malicious murder, murder against which none can defend himself, which does not seem what it is, because no man sees the murderer, because the death is more one of omission than of commission..But murder it remains."
    - Friedrich Engels

    Sounds like abortion

Engels was talking about us, though not the way you think While Russia has begun to restrict abortion access in an effort to increase the birthrate, Canada remains the only country in the western world without an abortion law. Moreover, every province except for New Brunswick pays for these acts, even though a majority of Canadians believe they should not be publicly funded, and 31% believe they should not happen at all. We even give EI to those who abort:

Wow! 2 million in 20 years

Apparently Canada has had 2 Milliion abortions in the last 20 years. That's roughly 100,000 per year. Compared to 45,000 people who die of smoking, 2,000 who are killed from impaired driving, and roughly 6-700 homocides, that makes the womb the statistically least safe to be in Canada.
