RealRenewal to flood board meeting with sea of green PDF Print E-mail

Members of RealRenewal sent out a call today for all concerned citizens to come to the next school board meeting to show visible support for the green alternative of neighbourhood schools. The group will hand out green armbands for people to wear during the meeting on Tuesday, March 4. Under the board's proposed plan, up to 46.3 per cent of Regina elementary school children will be bused to their schools, a situation the group says is both environmentally and socially unsustainable. At the meeting, board members will consider a motion to put a moratorium on the planned closure of 14 schools, all of them in Regina's core neighbourhoods. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. and there will be a room for children.
