Dear Friend,
More than three weeks have passed since 15 monks were arrested in a
violent crackdown by Chinese police in Tibet. The monks are being held
in a secret location and Amnesty International believes they are at
high risk of torture.
The Chinese government is facing strong criticism from around the
world for its harsh actions in Tibet, and severe clampdown on
journalists and human rights activists throughout the country.
As
the Beijing Olympics approach, China’s leaders are listening to and
clearly concerned about world opinion. It’s exactly the right time to
keep building pressure for freedom and justice in China.
Please join more than 7,000 Canadians who have already taken action:
Send an email to the Chinese embassy here in Canada to express your
concern about the crackdown in Tibet and call for the release of 15
arrested monks

The eyes of the world are on China in the months leading up to the
Summer Olympics Games. Already we have heard the denials of Chinese
government officials and their accusations that worldwide protestors
are 'violating the spirit of the Olympics'.
We cannot let the Chinese government continue to ignore its Olympics promise to respect human rights.
