Stephen Harper's Conservative Government has tabled legislation that threatens the Canadian Grain Commission and the vital services it provides to farmers and consumers. Bill C-39 will dramatically reduce inspection of grain with serious consequences for Canada's international reputation as a producer of the highest quality grain.

Grain inspection protects consumers from dangerous contaminants like mercury
and bio hazards such as ergot and fusarium and from product with extraneous
materials like glass, rocks or bug infestations.

Bill C-39 will put Canadian farmer's at the mercy of the big grain companies
by eliminating the impartial weighing services, a security bond system and
appeals tribunals all provided by the Canadian Grain Commission.

Bill C-39 must be stopped!

Bill C-39 will cut the critical grain inspection services provided by
members of the Agriculture Union (PSAC) at the Canadian Grain Commission.

Bill C-39 is at odds with the unanimous recommendations of the House of
Commons Agriculture Committee.

Bill C-39 is bad news for grain producers and for all Canadians.

Help to stop C-39 and protect food safety and grain quality
