Earth Week Events Growing in Number PDF Print E-mail
Contributed by Earth Day Canada - Regina
Saturday, 18 April 2009
In the days leading up to Earth Day, April 22, over 6 million Canadians will join 500 million people in over 180 countries to celebrate the Earth and to take action to address local environmental issue," said Jim Elliott, Earth Day Canada coordinator for Regina.

“With the growing success of events like Earth Hour (www.earthhour.ca) and the growing demand of Canadians and all residents of this precious home we call Earth, it is becoming harder to not put the Earth and the protection of this home as our first priority,” said Mr. Elliott. “Residents in Regina and area, like those across Canada and around the world are taking action today and every day,” reiterated Mr. Elliott.

“This year more than ever, we are seeing the move for urgent need to take action and to have our government’s take action. We want concrete measurable actions to reduce GHG emissions.  We don’t want toxic chemicals.  We want protection of our limited natural areas and our water.  We want the world to stop destroying our forests and our seas and all the plants and animals that live there.”
