Despite overwhelming evidence that Nay Myo Hein will be greatly harmed if he
is deported to Burma, this afternoon a Federal Court judge turned down Nay
Myo Hein's urgent request for a stay of his forced removal to Burma. The
twenty five year old former child soldier and Saskatoon resident is very
disappointed with the decision and extremely worried about his future,
telling Canadian Friends of Burma, "If I go back to Burma I will be a dead
man. Why don't Canadian officials understand this?"
CFOB is very concerned by the judge's ruling and urges the Harper government to intervene, CFOB's executive director Tin Maung Htoo called the ruling "a dangerous precedent" adding "I fear for Nay Myo Hein's life. We cannot allow his deportation to occur."
CFOB calls on people who care about Burma to take action by contacting Public Safety Minister Peter Van Loan and urging him to immediately halt Nay Myo Hein's deportation. CFOB has also received several reports that emails of concern sent to Van Loan's office have been bouncing back. We urge people therefore to call and fax the minister and due to the urgent nature of this matter ask that Prime Minister Stephen Harper be contacted.

I phoned Van Loan's office this morning, and got the voicemail for some staff person. I left a message, bout would have preferred to talk with a live human (?) being. Will try again on Monday.
