The Regina Public Interest Research Group (RPIRG) and the Saskatchewan Council for International Cooperation (SCIC) are teaming up to offer an amazing training opportunity for young leaders and activists this summer! Generating Momentum: Activist Leadership Training Camp will be held August 29 - September 1, 2010. It is a 4-day, province wide event in the Qu'Appelle Valley, with a focus on providing the practical skills, knowledge, education, and networking opportunities necessary to make a difference in your community. If you are 18 to 29 years of age and are passionate about social and/or environmental justice, this camp is for you!

Workshops

Generating Momentum will allow participants to meet and make friends with a diverse group of people, while taking part in hiking, canoeing, music/art jams, and other fun activities in addition to workshops.  Activist leaders of all experience levels and backgrounds will be present, and if you want to affect change in Saskatchewan, this camp is for you! 

 The workshops and training sessions offered at Generating Momentum will include:

 - Creative activism

- History of social movements in Saskatchewan

 - Political strategy and structure

 - Media and messaging

 - Lobbying tools - Group activism

 - Civic and public law - Solidarity and solutions, locally and internationally

 - Campaign tools - Understanding and affecting power politics

 - Personal sustainability - Social networking and volunteer recruitment

 - Alternative energy - Strategic planning, event coordinating and project management

 - Building and being a movement - Justice, anti-oppression, and democracy

Registration

Lodging and meals are included in your registration costs, and you will receive a registration package in the mail early August, which will include detailed schedule information, directions, and full descriptions of the workshops, what to bring, etc.  

We will also be posting more information about workshops, facilitators, and schedules on the Generating Momentum blog as this exciting 4 day event gets closer! The camp has a limited capacity and will fill up fast, so don't hesitate to register today! Registration is only $50.00!*
